Silicon Mirrors

Monocrystalline silicon mirrors are used mainly in the infrared. The material is hard and brittle, conducts heat well but is sensitive to thermal load during polishing, and an ultra-smooth finish is particularly demanding. We run high-precision silicon spherical mirrors in production — reference part number R346005 — with surface roughness better than 0.3 nm RMS.
